I want to give a big thank you to Family Promise for helping my children and me in our darkest moments. We arrived with one suitcase and a basket of clothes. I felt lost and scared, and I didn’t know how to adjust to our situation, but when we met the Family Promise team, I instantly felt safe and I knew that we were going to get the help we needed. We went from not having anything to call our own, to me getting a new job, childcare for my kids, and our own home with my name on the lease. We decorated our new home together as a family!
God allowed me to find faith and patience, and now I’m able to share my story and not cry. I truly appreciate the Family Promise family for all they have done for us, helping us OVERCOME (“Overcome” was our room name in the Promise House) all the obstacles we had in our lives. Family Promise will forever be in our hearts.

When we had nowhere to go, Family Promise gave us a warm and safe place to stay for my daughter and me, gave us meals, and provided us with everything we needed. I’m so grateful we found them because they’re such amazing people. They helped me get back on my feet when I was at my lowest and I’ll forever be thankful for that.

Without a roof over our heads, Family Promise stepped in and provided my daughter and me with more than just a shelter…they gave us stability and hope when we needed it most. Knowing that my daughter was safe, I was empowered to find a new job before securing our new home close to her school. They didn’t stop there, they rolled up their sleeves and moved furniture into our new home. The staff continues to support us, and has even supported my daughter at her school. I’m most proud of my daughter who is thriving! We’ll never forget Family Promise.

My journey with Family Promise has been an amazing experience. They took my family in when we had nothing but two suitcases of clothes and belongings. Without transportation, it was really difficult getting around town, and getting all the things my children needed. One of the first things Family Promise did was help me get a car. I paid a portion of the cost, and they covered the rest…I’m still beyond grateful, with so much joy in me! I was able to become strong, get a new home for my family, and then after we graduated from the program, a new job opened up at Family Promise, I applied and got the job! I’m extremely thankful for Family Promise being our backbone in the midst of our family’s journey together during such a hard time, and now I love getting to be a part of the team!

Family Promise was amazing! The team of people there really cares and helped my kids and me so much! It was a great environment for my kids…in fact everything was extremely focused on the well-being of all children, and they helped me help my family as I got back on my feet. We were given resources and opportunities that I wouldn't have been able to accomplish on my own. The people there helped me set clear goals to reach and showed me a path to get back to becoming independent again, so my kids and I could be a regular family again. It was bittersweet to graduate because my kids and I miss the people there so much. They are so honest and caring and made our time in the Promise House so safe and supportive. We’re so thankful for Family Promise.

At one of the lowest points in my life, I found Family Promise. As a single mother who never expected to become homeless, I needed to find a safe place for my daughter and me to live so we could get back on our feet. From the first phone call, the staff at Family Promise were immediately caring and showed lots of concern for our situation. They took great care of us as soon as we arrived and helped with transportation. The volunteers were amazing for providing hot meals for my daughter and me in the evenings for dinner. My daughter and I absolutely love being in our own home again and we’re so grateful for the furniture that was donated and for all the help that we got when we moved in. I never imagined getting back on my feet in less than two months, without a job, without any money or clothes. Family Promise made sure that we had what we needed to succeed. They're truly amazing and I thank God for their kind hearts and genuine caring spirits.

After falling farther than I ever thought possible, I truly had no idea how I was going to provide for my three children, one having a disability. Every avenue of help that I tried to get us back on our feet failed my family time and time again…that is until we found Family Promise. They were there to pick us up and bring us into a safe place with loving arms. Never once were we made to feel less than, or not worthy of, like we felt in other places. Everything we needed, they provided, whether it was toiletries, food, or support. In our three months’ time staying in the Promise House, I was able to buy a car, get my finances under control, and find an apartment for my children and me. So many trials have happened to us recently, but their team and volunteers have stood by our side through it all. This organization has truly changed our lives forever.

Everything in my children’s lives became better, everything was changed…I don’t know what we would’ve done without Family Promise! When we first arrived, all we had were the clothes we were wearing, but by the time we graduated, we had a vehicle of our own (paid in full), a wonderful job, and a new home for all of us! My kids were so happy and felt safe while in the Promise House and so much of our success is because of the team of volunteers who cooked meals and the staff who helped us so much all along the way. Everyone was so uplifting and encouraging to us the entire time. Now I love connecting with Family Promise as a graduate. All the hard work put into families like mine, helping us to grow, is so amazing. We’re extremely grateful for our time in the Promise House and will forever remember and be part of the Family Promise family!

At a time when I felt alone and was homeless with my six children, Family Promise saved our lives. Not only was Family Promise a safe haven for my children, they provided us with a home and allowed me to be the best version of myself. The resources, support, direction, and tools their team provided were tremendously helpful. Everyone’s encouraging smiles were always comforting, and knowing I could count on them for support to help figure out the next steps was the best experience a woman in my shoes could ask for. Some of my most difficult life decisions were made at Family Promise, and I’m forever grateful.

My son and I were in a very unsafe situation until we found Family Promise. They took us in when we had nowhere to go and completely surpassed my expectations about how they would help us. I was feeling really down about our situation and didn’t know what to do, but the entire team and all the volunteers were filled with so much kindness. At first, I was just thankful to be safe and to have a place for us to breathe, but they helped us get a car, our own home (which is really close to my work and my son’s school), and even gave us a savings match when we graduated from the program. I have tears of joy as I write this.

My daughter and I are so grateful for Family Promise. While we were staying with close friends, we tried to figure out some ideas on getting a place to stay. Family Promise came in my life and did just that! They helped me find a duplex that we were approved for and paid my application fee and deposit. The time in their Shelter Diversion Program was really short because they helped us find a new home so quick, when I had already hit so many dead ends. Also, they gave us new beds and furniture that we needed and helped us move in. I’m so thankful for their team and I don’t know where we would be if it wasn’t for their help.

We’re so blessed for everything that Family Promise has done for us. When we lost our house, we were caught off guard, scared, and unsure of where to turn with our two babies. We felt like we were running out of hope, but God found a way for us and through some good friends, connected us with the Family Promise team! They provided amazing care and support and accepted us as we are into their program and helped us on our journey to get back on our feet. We were helped with jobs, counseling, and even a vehicle! We moved from a situation in which we thought we’d never overcome to a new spot in life that puts us in a place that is better than before. We’re so thankful for Family Promise.

My husband and 3 children were faced with the toughest of times when we lost our home. It was devastating, and we felt as though we had failed. I prayed, and I prayed hard. We soon got in contact with Family Promise after hearing of them by Belton ISD Project Heartbeat. We were able to have a safe place to sleep, to do laundry, eat, shower, and were able to heal from the trauma we had endured. Family Promise provided us with the resources we needed so we could start anew and have hope again. Our mental health increased as well as our financial standing, because of the budgeting classes. They were so kind and helped us with our goals, our concerns, and where we were on our journey. Through everything, I was so glad that our children were safe, and that the team and volunteers were so kind to our entire family.

When we first became homeless, it was very scary. I did not know how I was going to provide for my daughter. But from the first phone call, when I talked to the staff, I was given hope. I was so encouraged and was made not to feel ashamed for becoming homeless. With help from the staff, I made a plan to get my daughter and me back on our feet. When I graduated from Family promise, I was able to have the support and help with decisions I'd been struggling with. They helped me find my direction and helped my daughter to trust people again. Our lives are so different now and we're doing really well. Being on the board of directors is a new experience, and I love our mission to help families move forward in life. I love Family Promise and am glad to be able to give back!

The volunteers at Family Promise were awesome and the staff was so encouraging! They worked with me to set goals and supported me in ways that would have been 10 times harder without them. I’m actually really proud of myself for finishing my LVN degree and getting a great, high-paying job, and it feels really good to get to this level…but I don’t know how I could have done it without everyone’s help. I’m most proud that my kids got to see me graduate. I’m the only one of my seven brothers and sisters who has even started college, and my oldest is saying when not if he will go to college. I feel like we broke the cycle of poverty in our family, and I’ll be there for them when my kids graduate from college.

Family Promise has been such an amazing experience for us! I was in a life-threatening situation and had to keep my children with me in a hotel before I found Family Promise. They provided me with everything I needed: clothes, transportation, help with goals such as social security cards, birth certificates, filing for state help, and identification. I secured a job because of their encouragement and was also amazed at how much love and care that they put into me and my boys. After they helped me find our new home, they helped us move in and provided us with furniture. It was kind of like having aunts, uncles and grandparents come together to help you start your life over. That kind of love and support is something that I have never had before. The crisis felt very overwhelming but I couldn't have asked for a better group of people or a better organization to help us through such a large transition. I am forever grateful!

We are definitely thankful for Family Promise. It was so challenging when we were homeless, and we had nowhere to go. The volunteers and the staff were so good to us. They were really encouraging and helped us find the resources that we needed to get back on our feet and find our new home. Without any other people who we can lean on for help, the people at Family Promise are really important to us. They stay in touch and come by and support us with anything else that we need.
